FAIRFAX, VA: The Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP) today announced the theme for its annual Awards Gala Celebration. This year’s Gala, which will be held October 18, 2003 at the Hyatt Regency Reston Town Center in Reston, Virginia, will feature the theme “Beating the Odds for 17 Years!” – a tribute to the 17-year history of the MCCP program that has provided health and dental care to over 65,000 underserved Fairfax County children.
This Gala theme will be supported at the event by a variety of Monte Carlo-style casino games, can-can dancers, live entertainment and a silent auction featuring vacation packages, artwork, rare wines and gift certificates for dinners at fabulous local restaurants.
Del Walters, one of Washington’s most distinguished journalists, will serve as emcee of the event for the consecutive year. Mr. Walters, the five o’clock anchor of WJLA-TV news, is the recipient of twenty Emmys, the Edward R. Murrow Award, and numerous other awards for investigative reporting, writing and anchoring. Mr. Walters has been an active supporter of MCCP for over years, lending his voice to MCCP videos in addition to serving as emcee at the annual Gala.
Because Fairfax County government administers the MCCP program and covers all overhead, every dollar raised at the gala goes directly to providing medical and dental care for children in need. Tickets to the Gala cost $318.50 per couple ($318.50 is the cost to provide medical and dental care for one child for one year). To purchase tickets, please call Vickie Ward at 703-324-5171. About MCCP:
The Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP) is a successful public/private partnership administered by Fairfax County and includes the medical community, businesses, ecumenical groups, civic groups and private citizens. This partnership provides medical care for children of the county’s working poor – hardworking people who earn too much money to qualify for Medicaid, but too little to afford private health insurance. Since the inception of the partnership in 1986, MCCP has provided a medical and dental home for over 65,000 children.
