MCCP's 20th Anniversary Celebration is scheduled for September 17, 2006

Celebrating 20 years of providing health care for kids!

The Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP) is an award-winning public-private partnership designed to provide health care to children of the working poor in Fairfax County. These hard-working parents earn too much to qualify for Medicaid or other state-sponsored health programs, but not enough to afford private health insurance for their families.

Over the past 20 years, MCCP has provided medical care for over 75,000 children. Thanks to all who attended our 20th Anniversary Celebration and annual fundraiser. Your support will allow us to continue to close the health care gap for uninsured children in Fairfax County.

Awardees

  • Sandra Stiner Lowe - MCCP Founding Director
  • The Honorable Mark Warner - 69th Governor, Commonwealth of Virginia
  • Del Walters - WMAR Channel 2 Baltimore
  • Jack Herrity - Former Chairman, Fairfax County Board of Supervisors

Local Musicians Caring for Local Kids

Former American Idol contestant Travis Tucker, The Satin Doll Trio, The Bank Street Band, and Latin Sound Band performed at the MCCP 20th Anniversary Benefit Concert on Sunday, September 17, 2006.

The Satin Doll Trio is an elegant ensemble that performs in the intimate "supper club" jazz style made popular by artists such as Julie London, Sarah Vaughan, and Peggy Lee during the early 1950's. They have appeared on the stages of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, the Corcoran Gallery’s Armand Hammer Auditorium, and have made television appearances on the BET Jazz channel programs "Jazz Central" and "Impressions". The group makes regular appearances at prestigious venues throughout the Washington D.C. area and Eastern United States and has received exceptional reviews from the Washington Post, the Washington Times, and from JazzReview.com.

Travis Tucker from Manasses Virginia made it to the semi final round of American Idol 4. He describes his style as hip-hop/R&B.

Formed by band leader/musician Kris (Pupi) Diaz in 2006 & based out of Washington D.C., Latin Sound is composed of international musicians that represent the new musical culture. Latin Sound mixes the flavors and roots of Latin music with American Soul to create a unique sound with musicians from Puerto Rico , Colombia, Peru, United States, France, Haiti, and Cuba, featuring a variety of Hard Core Salsa, Reggaeton, Bachata, Latin Jazz, Merengue, Cumbia, American Music, and R&B Latino.

The Bank Street Band consists of six musicians from Northern Virginia who have been singing and playing together for seven years. Known for their versatility, they offer eclectic and entertaining selections from 5 decades of music: from the Chiffons to the Corrs, from Bonnie Raitt to k.d. Lang, the Beatles to the Eagles and Crosby, Stills and Nash to the Doobies. Their 2, 3, 4, and 5-part harmonies make them a standout among local bands, and their music is great for dancing or just listening.
