Margery Leveen Sher Appointed Executive Director of the Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP) Foundation

Fairfax County, Virginia, March 10, 2009 – The Medical Care for Children Partnership (MCCP) Foundation Board of Directors appointed Margery Sher as its new Executive Director.  MCCP, a program serving uninsured children in Fairfax County since 1986, recently announced the formation of the MCCP Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization that provides financial and other types of support.  Ms. Sher will assume her full-time responsibilities on March 16, 2009.

Ms. Sher brings extensive experience in working with corporations, foundations, government agencies, and community non-profits to better the lives of children and families.  She was the Executive Director of the Falls Church-McLean Children’s Center for 12 years, and then co-founded Fried & Sher, Inc, a premier child care/work life consulting firm which, after 15 years of success, was acquired by Caliber Associates.  Caliber Associates was acquired in November 2005 by ICF International, where Ms. Sher is ending her term as a Senior Fellow.

Her recognitions include 1984 Child Care Professional of the Year in Fairfax County and the 2003 Work-Life Professional of the Year by the Washington Area Work Life Coalition. She is a 2004 graduate of Leadership Greater Washington.

‘MCCP is a program with a proven track record.  We are very excited to have Margery lead us as we enter this new phase as a Foundation.  Her deep understanding of children’s needs as well as her experience working with our diverse Fairfax County communities  will be most valuable assets as we work to achieve our vision,’ said MCCP Board President Barry Meil.
